My Addiction to....

Pinterest...

For the past six months or so I have been a devoted Pinterest fan. I have been at work and whenever I could sneak a peek I will open up Pinterest and just be amazed by what you could do with a simple pair of scissors, yarn and glue! OK... not that simple, but with some time and the correct materials you really could "copy" or "recreate." So I'm really trying hard to lose some of my extra lbs. and I found on Pinterest these easy to make salad in a jar recipes. So I went to my favorite store, and other addiction, Target and bought me some mason jars. I bought all my fixings too and made my own salad in a jar! It was actually really easy and gooooodd... Below are my two mason jars with my salad.  It had salad dressing in the bottom, green bell peppers, carrots, cooked bow tie pasta, cooked chicken, and spinach lettuce mix. When it came time to eat I just shook it and made sure that the dressing was distributed to all my salad. As long as the dressing is not touching the "greens" the salad won't get yucky. I recommend anyone try these. You could make them on Sunday night and have lunch ready to go for the next couple of days. I read that they last up to a week. I would only do two days, but everyones stomach is different!!

Thanks for stopping by..

Moving...

So when are you supposed to move out of your parents house? This is a question that I ask my friends which happen to be Hispanic or Caucasian. The answers are suprising. My Caucasian friends say as soon as you are 18 you are more or less expected to be out on your own living life. My Hispanic friends say that you move out of your parents home until your own kids are having kids of thier own!! Is this true? Do you stay with your parents until you yourself are a grandparent. I sure hope not. I decided to take a leap of faith and move out. I already had moved out when I was 20, but for some really heartbreaking reasons I moved back in at my parents last year when I was 29. I've spent a year back at home and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it. Even though it was easy (no rent, no cooking, no worrying) it is time for me to leave my nest again.

I have rented a cute little apartment for me and only me. No roomate (boyfriend) no family living in the same house, no anything. Its a really scary situation for me. I am used to having family around all the time. We are a huge family and its not unusual to have family members living at your house. So now that I'm leaving I do have some hesitation, but its all my own fears of failing on living on my own. I now have to worry about rent, bills and cooking. Man, let me just tell you moving out is expensive!! I bought a bedroom set and that sucker was almost $1000 for a damn bed!!

So as I decorate my place I hope to put some pictures up. I'm not saying that I will put up decorating ideas because I have nooooooo decorating bone in my body! I suck at decorating, but the help of Pinterest I should have something fancy shmancy!!

ITALY!!

Well since my blog is about anyting and everything I'm want to share my experience with you. I have a bucket list and on top of that bucket list was my wish to visit Italy. Well this past May I fufilled my dream of visiting Italy! I went with my cousin Monica and met my niece Alex in Rome. Alex was studying abroad and that was more of a push to visit. My trip consisted of visiting Pisa, Florence, Rome and Paris, France. We stayed in hostels and rode the metros, trains and WALKED!! Man, did we walk. I think that the food that I ate had no chance to get me fatter because I walked it off.  My trip went by so fast. I still close my eyes and can't believe I was in Italy. The feeling of being there didnt hit me until I saw the Leaning Tower of Pisa. That's when I pinched myself and told myself "I did it".  I took pictures, but not enough. First of all I wanted to take everything in with my eyes and second my camera ran out of juice and it isnt that great of quality. Below are just some of the pictures. ENJOY!!

This is one of my favorites. Me, Alex and Monica.
The amount of steps up to the top of Eiffel Tower! We did them all.
Kicking it with Miz Mona Lisa.
OMG.... Pistacho Gelato..
Another one of my faves.

Lent

Its that wonderful time of the year fellow Catholics: LENT. Its that time where we all promise that we are going to sacrifice giving something up for 40 days and nights. So I'm taking it up upon myself to leave a couple of things that will actually benefit me. Like I mentioned in my first post I am going on vacation to ITALY and well I want to take some nice pictures while I'm there. Seeing that I am on the plus size I am in the process of losing some LBS! I have lost 20lbs so far since August 2011. I have changed the way I eat and have incorporated exercising to my life. So Lent gives me the opportunity to restrict my junk food ways even more. I will be sacrificing the following: chocolate, cookies, any kind of pastries, white bread, chips, fast food, peanut butter, ice cream. Hopefully by the time I leave in May I have lost an additional 20lbs.

I will be blogging my progress as I feel it is beneficial to me to write my thoughts down on how I am longing for a chocolate candy bar or how bad I am craving peanut butter!

Camera

Helllooo...

So I decided to break down and buy myself something nice and expensive. I bought myself a nice camera. Its a Canon Rebel T3. I'm heading to Rome in May and I want to be able to take beautiful pictures and share with you guys. So, now I'm going picture crazy and trying to learn everything there is to my camera so I know what I'm doing. I'm amazed how much technology has changed since we had those old school cameras. But, at the same time we are spoiled with digital cameras. Everytime we take a picture we have to see what it looks like and if we don't like how we look we delete it and take it again. Nothing is a surprise anymore! I actually enjoy pictures where people don't know they are being photographed. They are funnier and not so fake. My opinion people.
Till next time,
Jackee
